What is the difference between cast iron and iron cookware?

Cast iron lasts longer and you can even pass it down to generations.

How do I season a new cast iron tawa?

Here is an easy guide to season new cast iron tawa:
1. Boil water in the new cast iron tawa.
2. Once cooled, wash it with warm, soapy water and a steel scrubber/scrub pad.
3. Rinse thoroughly and dry the tawa with a paper towel/cloth.
4. Place it on the gas stove. Heat it till water evaporates.
5. Spread a layer of cooking oil (any edible oil) on the entire tawa - top and bottom.
6. Heat the tawa till smoke is visible.
7. Saute chopped onions or vegetable waste till it turns brown.
8. Discard the content.
9. Wipe thoroughly and store tawa in a dry place until next use.

How do I clean cast iron tawa?

1. Wash cast iron tawa with soapy water & a scrub pad.
2. Heat it mildly on a gas stove until completely dry.
3. Apply cooking oil all over to prevent rusting.

Can I put my cast iron tawa in the dishwasher?

No cast iron tawa is not dishwasher safe.

Heat is not transferred evenly
Tava is thinnner than edges & dosa burning in middle

Heat is not transferred evenly, centre part quickly get hotter than the edges.get ho

I m little disappointed with the making of the tawa...centre seems little thinner than d edges..it doesn't heat evenly , becomes v hot at the centre than edges side that's why dosas and other stuff tend to burn easily..enen cooking on medium flame doesn't give perfection. One thing is ok that food doesn't stick on it if prepared after proper seasoning... Uneven cooking is the problem. I suggest centre shud b little thicker than the sides.

Would never recommend

Though pre seasoned, and even though we did everything mentioned in the instructions to season the tawa, not a single dosha came out without sticking. We tried multiple times and since it can't be returned after tries, it stays now useless. Literally wasted the amount.
