Here's a simple & healthy recipe for Beetroot and Carrot Idiyappam: Ingredients:
- 2 cups rice flour
- 1 cup beetroot, grated
- 1 cup carrot, grated
- 2 cups water
- 1 tablespoon oil
- Salt to taste
Instructions:-
1. Prepare the Vegetables:
- Peel and grate the beetroot and carrot.
- Set them aside in separate bowls.
2. Prepare Idiyappam Dough:
- In a large mixing bowl, combine rice flour and a pinch of salt.
- Boil 2 cups of water with a tablespoon of oil.
- Gradually add the hot water to the rice flour, stirring continuously to form a smooth, soft dough.
- Divide the dough into two equal parts.
3. Add Vegetables to Dough:
- Mix the grated beetroot into one portion of the dough, kneading it well until the color is evenly distributed.
- Repeat the process with the grated carrot for the other portion of the dough.
4. Shape Idiyappam:
- Take a small portion of the beetroot dough and place it in the Idiyappam press.
- Press the dough through the press onto an Idiyappam plate or steamer in a circular motion to form spirals.
- Repeat the process with the carrot dough.
5. Steam Idiyappam:
- Steam the shaped Idiyappam for about 10-15 minutes or until they are cooked and firm.
6. Serve:
- Allow the Beetroot and Carrot Idiyappam to cool for a few minutes.
- Serve warm with coconut chutney, vegetable curry, or any side dish of your choice.
