How to avoid cast iron cookware from rusting?

Here are easy steps that will help you to prevent cast iron rusting.

👉 Do not soak your cast iron cookware in water.

👉 Always wipe it completely dry with a cloth after every wash.

👉 Post wash, apply a thin layer of cooking oil to the entire cookware surface.

Having said that, taking care of your cast iron cookware is important to ensure its longevity and maintain its non-stick properties.

Rust is a common issue with cast iron, but it can be easily prevented with the right care. After using your cast iron utensils - be it cast iron dosa tawa or kadai - simply clean it with water; there's no need to wash it with soap every time.

A damp cloth or tissue is enough to remove food residue. To preserve the cast iron cookware's natural non-stick surface and prevent rust, apply a thin layer of cooking oil.

Even if you're not using; say, the cast iron tawa, regularly, it's important to season it with oil occasionally. This helps remove any dull or rusty spots that may develop over time.

As said above, avoid leaving your cast iron utensils soaking in water for too long, as this can lead to rust formation.

By following these simple steps, you can keep your cast iron cookware in excellent condition for years to come.
